Getting Wet

Summary
"Getting Wet" is the story of Gary Waters, a successful venture capitalist approaching his 40’s, who finds himself trapped in a collision between the social problems of his past and the physiological problems of his present. A decade after overcoming his addictions to alcohol and drugs, Gary has been able to re-establish a healthy and successful life. He has it all: money, women when he requires them, a free and extremely comfortable life. That is until he is diagnosed with a life-threatening blood clotting disorder. After his body spurns the prescribed blood thinners, Gary is left with only a single option to keep him alive until a more suitable solution can be found: He must maintain a constant blood alcohol level in order to survive. Now Gary must try and salvage himself as his world collapses around him and he re-enters the dark past he left behind.
Development
The concept is for a television series that operates around Gary’s dilemma and where it forces him to go, both literally and metaphorically. At it’s core, "Getting Wet" is really an examination of addictions and the addictive mentality, alcohol being the most obvious one. How people’s habits, good and bad, end up defining how they are perceived and potentially who in fact they are. How difficult it is to break routines until we are forced to, usually by some sort of trauma. On the surface, everyone has some sort of relationship with alcohol, from drunks to teetotalers and everybody in between. And we certainly all have relationships to habits and addiction, be it our own or those of the people in our lives.

Brian Ish
Creator
Brian Ish, a native of California, left behind a successful corporate career in his early 30's to pursue his dream of acting professionally. He studied his craft at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the T. Schreiber Studio, and over the past 4 years has appeared in over 50 projects, including 8 feature films, 35+ short films, a slew of commercials, industrials and more. The idea for "Getting Wet" came to him in a dream the night before a meeting with Matt Wise and Joe Bandelli to pitch ideas they could write and film as vehicles for their talents. Joe Bandelli served as co-writer and director of the "Pitch Pilot" and Matt Wise was the 1st Assistant Director on the project.
